Soma - Persian Fusion Performance

Went to a cool performance last night in Sausalito. The feature group was called Soma. They’ve only been around for a month so they have no websiteThey *have* been around for awhile, though apparently in their current incarnation for only a month or so. The website (and correct spelling)_ is Som’ma, and they were really cool. It was (I think) fairly traditional music, but with some non-traditional sounds and instruments. They played all sorts of instruments - mostly something like a recorder, but more breathy, a couple of different strummed string instruments, some interesting drums… all of which was augmented by a (hot) violin player and some really cool electronic sounds provided by a Mac and (probably) Reason.

There was also some excellent (hot) belly dancing, and the evening was very enjoyable.

I’ve posted a gallery on my .mac account, but here are one of Stacia, me, the belly dancer, and the hot violin player
