COLUMBUS (AP) — State elections officials will examine a complaint that Congresswoman Jean Schmidt claimed to have two college diplomas when she only had one. A four-member panel of the Ohio Elections Commission ruled yesterday that there’s enough evidence to have the full commission look into the matter.

A complaint was filed Monday by a supporter of Schmidt’s opponent in the May Second Republican primary, former Congressman Bob McEwen.

Schmidt has identified herself in various publications as having two bachelor’s degrees from the University of Cincinnati. Her chief of staff, Barry Bennett, says Schmidt completed the requirements for the second degree but never collected the diploma. (From WTOL)
