As midnight approached Saturday, a 19-year-old San Francisco man was stabbed in North Beach, a 53-year-old woman was caught in a hail of gunfire at a party in North Richmond, and a 23-year-old man was shot in East Oakland, police said.
They brought to at least 10 the number of slaying victims in the Bay Area this weekend. Since late Friday, detectives are investigating four killings each in San Francisco and Oakland as well as slayings in Richmond and North Richmond.
In the latest case, at 11:54 p.m. Saturday, as many as three men fired 10 to 15 bullets into a group of partygoers near Third Street and Silver Avenue before hopping into one of two cars that sped away, said Contra Costa County sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Jennings.
Catherine Gulley, a longtime resident of the crime-plagued neighborhood, was killed. Police do not believe she was an intended target. Officers had broken up the gathering of 30 to 50 people an hour earlier, Jennings said, but it had come back together.
What. The. Fuck.
?
This is the goddamn bay area. A conclusive and highly scientific study which I can’t be bothered to look up has objectively shown that we in the bay area spend more money on books and booze than anywhere else in the world. Drunken bookworms do not kill each other. Stupid people are clearly not spending money in the right stores.

as I read this post…I hear a gunshot coming from the ‘hood a block or two away and immediately following a small Honda came ripping down my street at high speed hitting a parked car and nearly killing pedestrians in the crosswalk.
What the hell is going on in our City?
Not just in SF. On June 18th a 13 year old Marin City boy was severely beaten - in the head - with a baseball bat - by another 13 year old boy. Where are kids learning their values/morals these days?
Where. Are. Their. Parents? And where are their neighbors? And what are these people thinking?
In the ’70’s, my former husband caught our neighborhood thug - a 12 year old - brazenly keying all the cars on our street in broad daylight. When his parents were approached by the numerous *victims* about restitution, they just shrugged.
At the wise old age of 4, my son said, “They ought to put him and his parents in jail and MAKE them raise him!”
What a concept!
