Dylan McOMG

200802031120Warning: This is a really gay fanboy post that ogles Dylan McDermott mercilessly like a delectable cut of Kobe Beef. He is the hottest man alive, and if you disagree with me, then you are wrong. And possibly a little reeree. Move along, nothing to see here.

The TiVo has an anti-screen burn feature: If you let it sit in any menu area for too long it will switch you over to live tv — whatever happens to be on that tuner. Sometimes I get sucked into crap I would never watch. Like Murder She Wrote. And today, its Yet Another Movie in which the dad moves his dysfunctional family out to the countryside, into a spooky creepy farmhouse being haunted by the previous and late occpuants that only the children can see. I really dislike movies in this vein not only for rehashed storylines, but because they tend to build and release tension with 50dB blasts.

I like a good horror movie, but these bore me and give me a headache, so I don’t watch them anymore. And I think hollywood knows this, and have discovered an effective counter: DILFs (Dads I’d Like To beFriend).

ryan reynoldsFirst it was Ryan Reynolds in The Amityville Horror. He’s a good deal younger than me and very much a one off hotness thing for me. The combination of superhero build, cuts all over his face, being angry all the time, and the Best Beard Ever allowed him to slip through my twinky filter.

dylan mcdermottDylan McDermott , on the other hand… well, I’ve always been a giggling fanboy for him. First in Steel Magnolias, crawling through that crying chick’s window in a pair of shorts with the hottest legs ever, later in Home for the Holidays (this is going to sound stupid) drinking orange juice from a bottle in a way that made my toes curl, (… everything he has ever been in…) and now in this dumb The Messengers movie.

I can’t look away, because I might miss Dylan (aka my next ex-husband) doing something that will make me feel funny in my dangerzone. Like opening a letter, tying his shoelace, using a styptic pencil, or doing his taxes. Damn you Hollywood.

The end is nigh, Signs of the apocalpyse

Winter seasons of big brother. Stuffing empty holes with spinoffs of CSI. This sucks. I want my awesome tv writers well paid and happy at their keyboards.

As original episodes of scripted comedies and dramas dry up because of the Writers Guild of America strike, reality competitions and game shows are likely to reach record prominence on broadcast television in early 2008. (Read More)

New “Blade Runner” cut is “how it should have been”

I love Bladerunner. I have to buy this latest version. I have to get rid of the last version I bought. Wouldn’t it be cool if you could “upgrade” media you already purchased?

Over the years, five versions of the film have been released, including a director’s cut in 1992. But Scott said the “Final Cut” — which will be issued as a collector’s DVD edition later in the winter — was “really as it was intended to be.”

“A good film is like a good book, you might go to the shelf and take it off and revisit it. There are not a lot of films I can do that with from my collection of material,” (Read More)

Hot Kathleen Turner on John Waters on Serial Mom Drive-in action

The Provincetown International Film Festival is underway on Cape Cod and last night John Waters and Kathleen Turner hosted a screening of Serial Mom at the Wellfleet Drive-in Cinemas.

Said Turner, who is receiving the festival’s Lifetime Achievement Award: “I’ve never been to the drive-in before. And I haven’t seen ‘Serial Mom’ for some time, so I was looking forward to this.” Of Ptown, she said: “It’s beautiful here. But I wish it would warm up. I had to buy a sweater.”

And always remember, no white shoes after Labor Day!

Camp

campAnother fabulous queer movie. I’ve seen this a couple of times, but tivo’d it again, and was still encutened by the experience. This one is the delightful story of a bunch of kids in summer drama/music/theatre camp. They explore their ambiguous sexuality, love, hate, support, and inspire each other and a burned out but talented alcoholic director/composer. Love love love it. And makes me a bit sad too… it very much reminds me of being a young musician, surrounded by other fabulously talented people.

Kinky Boots

bootsI’m apparently catching up on really amazing queer films. I saw Kinky Boots tonight, and it was phenomenal. Cute story of a man who inherits a failing stodgy men’s shoe factory With the help of Lola, a successful drag performer and designer, he reinvents the business as a company that makes shoes for boys who dress like girls.

Picture 4

A+ for cute lead actor Joel Edgerton.

Breakfast on Pluto

Tivo thoughtfully recorded it for me tonight. The description was ho hum… and I sat through about half the movie ho-humming. Then I got really into it. It’s one of the most touching films I’ve seen in awhile. Cillian Murphy does nothing for me as a boy but he makes a wonderful, giddy, sweet girl. Liam Neeson has never done anything for me either, but goodness he makes a hunky priest-with-a-secret.

Dune

Tivo grabbed dune for me. Refreshed my knowledge by hitting imdb. Check out Kyle MacLachlan being a complete 25yo pinup in this wardrobe still:

God loves a terrier

A friend is considering getting a dog. A Norwich Terrier is on the list, which reminded me of a favorite scene from a favorite movie (Best in Show):

(This is posted under cats, since dogs are just cats who have gone retarded)
