Frontgate grill is cute

Frontgate-1Has anyone ever bought something from Frontgate before? (”Outfitting America’s Finest Homes”). I haven’t, and some of their stuff looks cute and innovative. I get the feeling it’s cute and innovative in the same way as Sharper Image: Looks awesome in the catalog, turns out to be made of hollow metallic finished ABS plastic and breaks after five uses.

Trash can apparently has RSS

Simplehuman Products Trash Cans Kitchen - Mozilla Firefox (Build 2007112718)

This simplehuman trash can has a touch free sensor in place of a foot pedal. But it looks like it can subscribe to trash updates to me.

Yucky morning surprise: Wet laundry

I got up at the crack of whenever my busted ass cat started hopping on my face to remind me that his food bowl was only 3/4 full and “Hey isn’t it time you were up paying attention to me.” Purpose: Move clothes from washer to dryer. ETA: 60 minutes. Ready to go to work now, went to dryer to discover it shut itself down about 3 minutes into cycle. Cancel/Abort/Retry/Cut a bitch?

Perfect way to start the day

Monica and Jason, aka SwapSF.com in the San Francisco Bay Guardian

Monica and Jason are SwapSF.com and they’re also my house mates. This must be what it’s like to live with Steve Jobs when he was eating pizza in a garage inventing the computer or something. My friend’s rule.

The couple started SwapSF a few years ago as a way to poach their friends’ unwanted apparel. “I had this friend who owned like a million pairs of limited-edition sneakers that he never wore,” Lewis said. “The swap idea started as a way for me to get my hands on some of them.” So Hernandez and Lewis, who have been throwing events since they met at a party five years ago, did what came naturally: they drew up a flyer, bought a bunch of cheap beer and pizza, and invited their friends to get down.

The idea has taken off, as I witnessed Sept. 22 when I threw a few shirts, a pair of pants, and some old hats in a bag and pedaled down to Bryant and 18th Street to volunteer at their recent event, the Most Hyperbolically Stupendous Clothing Swap Ever. It was to be a win-win situation: a little time in exchange for first dibs at free clothes. I arrived at CELLspace at 11 a.m. to find a DJ spinning downtempo hip-hop, a handful of kids sorting through bags, and Hernandez, who greeted me with a smile, a name badge, and a beer. I’d envisioned spending a leisurely afternoon sipping beer provided by Trumer Pilsner (the event sponsor) with about a hundred other scavengers, and the day seemed to be turning out that way. A [*] Pot Never Boils

* Not watched, any kind of pot. I remodeled my kitchen a few years ago, and it was a massive joist to joist job, with a new heated floor, ceiling, walls, and cabinets. There wasn’t really much money afterwards to get a new stove, and boy does that suck. My ancient gas stove will only get a large pot of water to a tiny boil. So stupid.

We’re getting a new hospital

I don’t mean “San Francisco,” I mean me and my house mates. This big fucker is practically in my backyard. On one hand, it’s probably going to make home values skyrocket. On the other, this could really really whack out the flavor of the neighborhood. How will The Hill handle it?

My short attention span, my new new new music workstation…

Today I got the bug up my butt to move all my computer stuff from my house to my basement. I like the new setup (despite having to walk outside, in the rain, to get to it).

A few weeks ago I installed a plugin that shows what I was writing about this day of last year. I was highly amused to see…
Picture 9-1

New music workstation is a post I wrote talking about how excited I was to move all my stuff around to be more productive yadda yadda.
So it lasted *exactly* one year.
